Multiple Monitors

Hi Guys,

This is something that has annoyed me for a while now. I have a MBP and an external monitor plugged in, every time I wake the MBP with the lid open it will extend/clone the desktop which I don't want it to do.

This also creates a problem when I do want to use the screen on the laptop as well and when I've finished want to go back to one display (the external one) close the lid and the MBP puts itself to sleep.

Is there a program that better manages multiple displays within OS X, if I BootCamp into Windows this has a better screen management system and can turn off the display on the MBP while I use the external as my primary. I could just turn the brightness all the way down and leave the desktop extended but then that becomes a hassle when I go to the corner for Exposé.

Any suggestions or should I just put up with it? I thought there might have been a program to help me out but could find one with a quick Google search.

Thanks,
Matt
