MacBook to Projector - DVI?

G'day guys,

Just about to get a cable off the Apple Store so I can plug my MacBook into the projectors at school, but not sure which one I need.

Pretty certain it's the DisplayPort to DVI but just want to double check with fellow MacTalker's.

Depends what projector it is!
A mini-DisplayPort to VGA will be more foolproof and work with more projectors, but a DVI one will be slightly better quality and more useful for other monitors.
Obviously if the projector only has one of those then that's the one you should probably get. Have a look and see what ports they have.

Hmm, ok, thanks Coxy.

I will ask one of the IT teachers tomorrow which one they use, quality isn't an issue because they'll be simple keynotes or short movie clips, and I'm not really concerned about hooking up to other monitors. Both should work with my 22" Acer, just checked and apparently it has both DVI and VGA capability.

Buy both adaptors.
Use DVI at home on your LCD.
Use VGA or DVI depending on what your school's projectors have.

Ouch, $90 bucks for two cables - lol.

I guess I may as well go all out, already spent $2200 on the unit might as well go the whole nine yards eh?

It is worth it. I've kicked myself recently for not having enough connectors to get the job done. It screws with your head badly...
