Which is the best eyeTv?

hey all

im thinking of buying a eye TV but im not sure what to buy or what is the best one.

they are all different and im not sure whats best for me.

basically i have a MacBook Pro 4.1 and its in my bedroom away from tv point. so Id like to not have to plug into a tv point.

does that mean i need to get the hybrid Eyetv?

thanks for the help

Regardless of which EyeTV you get, you will need to plug in an aerial. The included little aerials suck - you *need* to plug it into a wall socket/roof antenna.

Honestly, without plugging into an external aerial, I can't see that you will have much luck with reception.
I bought the Elgato EyeTV DTT last week and the supplied aerial couldn't pick anything up at all.
I had to climb up in the roof and run some extra coax cable to a point in the bedroom and plug the DTT into that.

You can get bigger indoor antennas that may work - nothing will beat a proper outdoor antenna though.

+1 for an outdoor antenna. I've got the EyeTV DTT and the supplied antenna got a signal but the quality was 50% and the picture kept freezing. As soon as I connected an outdoor antenna I got 100% quality - it's a standard VHF/UHF antenna outside sitting on my windowsill, not even on the roof.

A lot of it has to do with your location. Are hills in the way, do you get reflections from structures, do you have line of sight and how far away is the transmitter. The phase of the moon and how you hold your tongue are also important factors. It's basic trial and error, start with the supplied antenna and work your way up until something works.

eyetv3 is ridiculously inaccurate using the built in editor, although it gives signal boosts so i cant go back to eyetv2
