Headphones and travelling on Qantas Airbus A330
Gday All,
Im just about to travel overseas to Japan... Just wondering if anybody knows what type of headphone jack the Qantas AirBus A330 uses. What type of adapter do I need to get to use my standard 3.5mm jack headphones? Ive done some fairly extensive web searching and googling and cant find a solid answer. Thanks.

You'll need the headphone adapter.
Strand bags or JayCar should have them or you can look on eBay if you have enough time.

I think most planes just have standard 3.5mm jacks.

^ That looks spot on, although some flights use the above design but in a triangular format.
Don't think it's used by QANTAS though, so it's all good.

Qantas normally has the 2 prong connection thingy. You might want to go to Jay car. I think that's what I used when I traveled on Qantas from Tokyo. My bose came with those though.
I've never been on a flight in the last couple of years that used normal 3.5mm jacks. Either the 2 prong, or the fat connector. Both are sold at jaycar if I remember. Dick Smiths might have them as well.

Will do... just thought it might be helpful for other people with the same question as it doesn't seem to have been posted here before.

Virgin use the double but put dual channel through each output so you can use normal headphones.
Qantas don't and you need an adapter -.-

Flew Brisvegas to Melbourne last night on a newer Virgin plane and they used a single 3.5mm. They were even handing out nice little white earphones to everyone!

You could also try seatguru. They may have info about the Qantas plane

Hi - I must have done that flight 15 - 20 times this year on the Qantas A330's. Without a doubt, you will need the 2 prong 3.5mm adaptor plug - definitely not the three pin triangular.
I use my own bose noise canceling headphones and they work great using the Bose adaptor (similar to the one in Wally's post above).
Hope this helps
Paul
