Anything you have in itunes will play on apple tv (just needs to be the right format).
Also photo's in iPhoto, youtube, and flickr if you use it.

I love my Apple TV. I use it more than I use Foxtel these days.

It basically turns your TV into an iPod.

It also makes a great tool for easy and instant access to your DVD library. I have hundreds of DVD titles on original discs and so far have managed to back up over 125 of them to an external 1TB HDD and all of them are accessible via the Apple TV/iTunes library.
It has taken some time to do it, but, with Handbrake ripping software and some patience I am gradually building a library of literally hundreds of titles. It's so much simpler to pick and choose right off the list instead of constantly looking for .. and changing .. the discs.

Ditto...
Especially handy for kids DVD's which are now safely out of reach.
I've been encoding in batches with handbrake (set up 5 or 6 overnight) then use MetaX to fill in the meta data which iTunes picks up (things like rating, synopsis and, importantly, cover). Works a treat

I cancelled Austar. I now use AppleTV. Have ripped all our DVDs and that keeps the kids happy. I bought US$200 worth of US iTunes credit when our dollar was at 90c so I've been using that to buy movies and TV series. It's actually cheaper than Foxtel and more convenient. AND NO ADS.

Ditto but I still have Foxtel because the wife likes some shows on there that aren't available on iTunes or from our friends in the US.

My ATV is the main source of video for me, I've also patchsticked mine to run Boxee so I don't have to transcode anything anymore and leave the HD content in my iTunes library as Boxee can't handle HD.

Im not sure which thread to put this in.
I have an Apple TV on order at JB-Hifi, and it has been ordered about 3 weeks ago. I have been in several times asking if it has arrived yet after they said 10 days.
Today i re-visited, and the guy working there said that apple could have possibly cancelled the order. Knowing apple's ways, do u think this is a sign of a re-do?

A re-do meaning an update? I doubt it.
I'd say its more a case of a botched order.
Any reason why you don't want to cancel with JB and order through Apple Online?

It's not an urgent need. I went with JB becuase I had enough vouchers to pretty much pay for it.
