Funny this thread should pop up. I finally got tired of my Mighty Mouse too, and went and bought an MX Revolution today. Should have done it sooner. I was constantly fighting my Mighty Mouse just to get the nipple to work again (the upside down on paper trick only works for so long). I think just having a cable was more annoying than the gunk in the scroller, though. Just got so used to wireless mice now, that having a cable constantly dragging against the desk and snagging on my mouse mat got a little too frustrating for me to stay sane.

Anyways, the MX Revolution was $149.99 at Harvey Norman, so I asked them to price match with ComWiz in Midvale, so I got it for $89. Over $60 in savings. Slightly ridiculous, and although I was expecting a price hike at Harvey Norman, the actual amount of it surprised me.

Love it, by the way. Beauty of a mouse So long Mighty Mouse! Our relationship must come to an end. It's been good (and by good I really mean bloody frustrating).

My mighty mouse is starting to play up.. mainly the ball doesn't work - i use a bit of glass cleaner and roll the ball around for a few mins to get it to work again.

I've taken my MM apart several times. It is a very fiddly process with the silly cam/spindle things which gunk up.

A wheel would be so much better because the reason the world moved to the red lights under the mice was for the very reason that the old large ball on the underside used to gunk up.

we have the same problem all over again with the MM.

I love the way the clever way the buttons are sort of "hidden", making it look like a no button mouse. But give me a wheel and I'll be happy.

I gave up with mine, tried using the sticky tape cleaning method, worked a few times, I tend to eat lunch while I work and I found out the hard way that the mighty mouse doesn't like sandwiches or curry

$82 at MSY or $58 for the VX Revolution, which isn't all that much smaller.

Just opened up my MM to clean it up (instruction here). So much gunk! I tried all the other methods for temporary fixes and now I know why. They only remove enough dirt to keep the ball rolling, but not enough to prevent gunk from building up again after only a short time. The little magnetic rollers in there are quite delicate so its quite easy for them to attract dirt.

Now it works fine, though I need some superglue to stick it back together properly. And I'm not sure how long it will stay smooth with my greasy, sweaty fingers on it all day.

Still, I'm in the mood for change. The Logitech MX Revolution is looking interesting ...
