Question Scanner for Mac - Old one Died

Has anyone got any suggestions for a Scanner made for the Mac. Preferably from the known companies (epson Canon).

Another question regarding my old scanner. It's not broken or anything but when i connect it to my iMac Aluminium it doesnt work (No Power) however when i connect it to my dell it works. Do i have to enable power to USB ports? if so then how?

Thanks All

Sorry about double thread

What scanner is it that you have that isn't working?

If you're looking for a bargain bin one, a Brother multi-function printer is so cheap now.

That's my expertise

Do you have these installed on your Mac?
Canon

Have you tried different USB ports? Your not trying to use the keyboard ports by any change are you?

You don't need to enable "Power over USB", that stuff just happens.

Found this on Google from here getting my lide 25 scanner to work on leopard - Philippine Macintosh Users Group

First of, all previous drivers must be deleted (use the uninstall utility that you can download from Canon USA website.

Download 11.0.3 driver

During the install process, a dialogue box asking if you want to open an application named dsieg (something like that) will pop up, dont open!!!!

Now, the LIDE 25 should work without buying Vuescan.

Assuming the above does not assist to get the old one working, I can recommend the Epson Perfection V350 scanner. Comes with Mac drivers, works in Leopard, and has a great film and slide scanner function that I was looking for. Got it for $160, very happy so far.

It's actually harder than I thought to find stand-alone scanners in retail places, too. Everywhere I went had heaps of MFCs, but very little in the discrete scanner or printer areas- at least at the home/SMB end.

Me too-I also own a Epson scanner (a older 1650-fast despite being USB 1.1) and nice Mac scan drivers.
