Epson and Canon scanners

Are Epson and Canon scanners goodchoices for photo scanning?

That's a yes and a no.
Are you doing this for professional purposes or personal stuff?
Do you need ultimate quality or can you accept pretty good to very good?
You can get a bit carried away with this stuff - basically any scanner will do for most purposes - even a cheap one.
The way to make even a cheap one better is to paint the entire non-focal insides non-reflective black and you'll get great gains for little expenditure (I've seen articles on how to do this - it makes a BIG difference).

epson make some very good scanners but depends on what your going to use it for

in the budget range the biggest thing to look at would be included software and how good is it - i know the epson stuff is decent

Home photo scanning.

Thanks-very happy with my Epson 1650 scanner.

Their Epson Scan has a range of modes and is quite good.
