Time Capsule and Switch
I presently have a 1gb Time capsule and have the need for additional Ethernet Ports.
Can I install a 8 port switch into 1 of the Ethernet ports on the TC, and will all ports be able to access the TC and the Internet??

Just plug the "uplink" port of the 8-port switch into any of the Time Capsule ethernet ports and it will work fine.

Usually port 1 or port 8 will be an "uplink" port.
Plug it in and see what happens

Nope. Plug it in and see what happens, it should just work without any configuration changes on anything.

You only need the uplink port for the best speeds, just try plugging a straight or crossover cable and hope for the best, the cheap switches are smarter when it comes to this

Crossover cables are not needed on ANY Apple equipment with an ethernet port released after the Mirror Door PMG4. At that time (many had it earlier) all ethernet enabled Macs have auto-sensing ports, meaning they can use both crossover and straight through cables.

How can you do this? You're not allowed to buy something small and simple to make it work. You need to go on a rampage about how apple only gave you a couple of ports, how <brand> does it better, and cheaper, and that you'll never buy Apple again.
Some people, really....

Just out of interest, is it a rev 2 version of switch or a rev 1? It would appear the rev 1 version doesn't do jumbo packets
