Connect to the Internet, print and broadcast of music from iTunes in any room of the house. The all wirelessly. Now with the standard 802.11n 1.
With AirPort Express connected to your DSL or cable modem, up to 10 users can surf the Web, send e-mails and make much more ... 2 at the same time. AirPort Express is based on the new specification Wi-Fi 802.11n, which increases up to five times the performance and twice the range of standard 802.11g previous 3.
Compact and portable, AirPort Express also allows you to share your Internet access when you are travelling. Connect it a USB printer, and you can print wirelessly without leaving the comfort of your couch. And with AirTunes, you can play music from any computer equipped with iTunes - you just have to connect a pair of speakers to AirPort Express to enjoy your music in nearly every room of your home 4.
AirPort Express is fully compatible with both Mac and PC.
System requirements for Mac users
Hardware configuration.
Macintosh computer with a map AirPort Extreme or AirPort
Software configuration.
Users equipped with Mac OS X 10.4 (or later) can:
Access to a wireless network AirPort Express
Configure an AirPort Express
Use AirTunes to listen to the music
Share a USB printer
Use encryption technology Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA/WPA2)
System requirements for PC users
Hardware configuration.
PC equipped with a wireless card certified 802.11n Wi-Fi (preliminary version 2.0) or IEEE 802.11a/b/g
Software configuration.
Windows XP or Windows Vista
Remarks.
(1) The AirPort Express is based on a preliminary version of the IEEE 802.11n specification. It is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g.
(2) The Wireless Internet access requires a computer equipped for wireless communications, a base station or other access point and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.
(3) Based on a comparison with Apple products certified 802.11g. The comparison focuses on a network AirPort Express with 802.11n-enabled computer. The speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product connects to the network. Access to the wireless network requires a computer with an AirPort card or AirPort Extreme, or any other computer certified 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. Actual performance may vary depending on the scope of the connection rate, the configuration of the site, the size of the network, and other factors. The range varies depending on the configuration of the site.
(4) AirTunes requires a stereo or powered speakers compatible.

Can you use the Airport Express in WDS mode and also use AirTunes?
My Airport Express has recently died so I'm glad to hear of the potential update.

Let's hope this is released here soon. My airport express has served me well for the past 2 years as my main wifi router.

All my internet use is via my Airport Express...
as is ALL my music!
Music in iTunes on my MBP goes via AirTunes to my Denon receiver, voila music into my home theatre system!
As I type this - I'm on WiFi network at home (via Airport Express) with Lowrider's new album playing via AirTunes
