Printing via NAS device

Hi,

I have a Maxtor 1TB NAS which has two USB ports that I can connect a printer or another device.
So I have connected the printer (A canon i865) when I go to print it finds the printer no problems...but it cant print!
Any ideas?
I have the current drivers etc....just not sure where to go next....the message I get is "can't connect to "xxxx being the name of the drive" (or the ip address) trying in 30 secs....."

Forgot to add I am running latest Leopard...
TIA

Bluemist.

Helped a user on the Apple Forum with a SimpleShare NAS. He was getting the same error when trying to use IP printing. The guide for the NAS showed that for Windows users, the printer connection had to be via SMB. Suggested a similar process to the postee and it resolved his error. So, select to add the printer using Windows printing, double-click the NAS to see the printer share via its USB. Then for the print using, you will need the Gutenprint i865 - the Canon i865 driver will not work with SMB.
