eyetv returned
I had to return my eyetv back to the shop as it didn't pick up the SBS channels.
Can anyone recomend a compatable Tv tuner for my 24" imac that will pick up SBS.

I reckon its due to lack of signal in some areas. you need an really good TV antenna to get SBS in regional Vic (If thats where you are)

Just out of interest, did you have the tuner plugged into an external antenna? And does this same antenna provide reception to SBS for an existing Set top box no problem?
EDIT: and I agree with above poster, if one tuner didn't pick it up then it's likely other brands will do the same. It's going to come down the the antenna source used more then anything, hence my question above to determine if you have another digital set top box plugged into the same antenna source which works fine or not?

Yes we have HD settop box and we get excellent picture quality here in Geelong Victoria.
My PC picks it up fine as well in standard and HD.

And the mac tuner you had was plugged into the same socket as the PC + Set top box? yet couldn't get SBS right? even if the Mac tuner was the only unit plugged in and the other unplugged?

If you took a minute to read, we are slowly getting to the point of what is the issue. As you see above OP has advised the SBS broadcast is viewable from 2 other alternate devices off the same antenna connection.
EDIT: MacMac I suggest you put the explicit model to which you had issues with as your current suggestion is very general and not specific at all.

Were you running v3? I know I had issues with v2.4.x and loss of signal on ABC and SBS.

There are no problems with the antenna cables and we pick up SBS & ABC perfectly and crisp and no trouble with Standard or HD boxes and the PC is the same.
I had brought the eyetv Hybrid and when installed I allowed the upgrade as well of the software.

Perhaps it was just a faulty unit - stranger things have happened.
Did you get a replacement unit and then get your money back when a second unit had the same problem as the first?

I'm using a Miglia TVmini from Europe and it's picking up everything fine it's great having HD T broadcast! My only problem is with the EPG, and that's no big deal.

I don't think you understand what I am trying to do, and well I won't explain it again, as I just did. In any case, good luck with the next tuner purchase, it might work, but then again it might not.

Check the frequency of SBS versus set by auto-tune versus the actual frequency in your area.
If I remember correctly, I found a slight discrepancy at one stage with one of my tuners and this caused me a few problems on a marginal signal. Probably not your problem, because you seem to have a strong signal, but worth a look. If you find a discrepancy you can set the channel manually and see if that solves your problem.
I find SBS to be the channel most subject to drop-out during atmospheric disturbance for my pinnacle tuners. As I say, may not be your problem, but worth a look perhaps.
btw You can get the frequencies from dba.org.au
good luck!

To be honest, sounds like the signal location, set top boxes pick up just about everything, infact the set top box where I'm staying picks up SBS perfectly, yet in the computer room the tv tuner can't hold an SBS connection yet it's got a way bigger antenna.
