WPA for DLINK 604T on my iMac G4 OSX 10.3.9

HI there,

My wireless connection has been working seamlessly unsecured for a couple of years, but now that I want to secure it, I can't.

I've downloaded the 'how to secure wireless' pdf for DLINK 604T fom the DLINK website and followed it all the way (at least 10 times now).

I think my problem is with the very last step: my network settings. The DLINK pdf gives instructions for Visa, XP and something else, but not for Macs.

Is anyone able to help?

I get a message saying "The wireless network DLINK_WIRELESS does not support the encryption method' . I'm wondering if I need to physically create a new profile before I delete the old one, and if this is the case, any instructions on how to do it would be very welcome.

Regards
Kate

You are not able to configure this using safari. Try with firefox and run through the wizard - that should be enough (ignore the guide ).

Thanks avolve, I'm very grateful for your input.

I originally used Firefox, and then following an additional suggestion from DLINK support, today tried Explorer for Mac and achieved the same outcome. The fact that I got the same result with both browsers was what made me think it might be something in my Mac network settings I need to alter.

I'm happy to ignore the DLINK guide, but which particular wizard are you suggesting I run through?

Regards
Kate

I have the same model and set it up at a friends a couple of weeks ago (with my mac/firefox).

There is a wizard in the router interface (http://10.1.1.1 if i recall correctly). You can enter the set-up wizard from the interface, or go straight to the WAN set-up directly. Both will enable you the edit the WAN settings.

There is an option to include a password.

Hope that helps??

Make sure you have the latest firmware in the D-Link.
