Airport Express 802.11n update?
I went into a NextByte in Melbourne today, and the guy said that Apple haven't given them stock of the Airport Express for 4-5 weeks. He said all the retailers are out of stock. His conclusion was that an 802.11n update is going to drop very shortly, thus explaining the delays. The Apple Online store says shipping will be "1-2 weeks", whereas all the other Airport stuff is "within 24 hours".
The US store says "3-5 days", compared to "within 24 hours" for all the other Airport stuff.
It looks like stocks are dwindling.... I'd really rather not buy into old tech if an 802.11n update is just around the corner.
Has anyone heard any news or anything like that on an 802.11n Airport Express?

There was a guy called forgie on the mactalk forums saying that he checked with a NextByte in Melbourne and they said that the stocks are low because they assume an 802.11n update is coming.

What, you've got narratoritis?
Or are you doing a "Writing children's books" course, and practising your wares here?

Very, very odd
Personally I think an Airport Express update that includes 802.11n would be great!
Cheers

I've always wondered why the Airport Extreme doesn't include AirTunes. If they're going to make the Express 802.11n then that would do the job!

Is the Airport Express the Apple product with the longest time between updates?

No, I got it too I though it was pretty well planned...
Back to the topic - yes, I'd love to see the new AirPort Express come out soon. Would I buy it? No, not until my current AirPort Express dies. Plus, would there be any point in upgrading seeing as my PowerBook only has 802.11 b/g?

It would really be nice if Apple combined the modem into their airport products. I'm going to buy a netgear DG834G (modem+wireless) instead - is it any good?

That was my stupidly subtle way of saying that I have not heard any rumours of an 802.11n Airport Express. I'm glad some people got it.
Apple don't include modems in their routers because they are thinking globally. Having only routers means that people can use their own cable, ADSL or whatever technology modem + an Apple Airport Extreme or Express.
