welcome rgros

A quick google revealed two links for 10.4x drivers for rebadged E220 USB modems, see below:

http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=73855
http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=98106

... hope they work with 10.5, there are no official drivers for it yet that I can find.

Leopard is not officially supported for the Huawei E220 HSDPA modem yet. Due in a couple of months evidently.

Are you with vodafone? If so have you used disc supplied with the modem? Evidently it is best to use the local version software supplied by rhe telecom.

Try this. Reinstall again with the modem attached to the usb port. This worked for me when I accidently left the modem plugged in, but when i didn't and followed the installation instructions it failed to work. I have a Powerbook G4 running Leopard so it only might work with PPC and not on a Newer Intel machine. I have had it working with both 2.07 and 2.08. Here is a link for 2.08 from Vodafone Au. I would only use it if you are with Vodafone.

I have it working in Leopard on 2 Macbook's in our office using these drivers. Instructions are included in download. I found these drivers just after Leopard launched but can't remember from where, possibly Globe telecom Philippines.

Download.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I'm running a G5 on 3 mobile broadband.

It seems to recognise the network but i'm getting a "could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server" message

I have used the CD supplied with the moden.

Yes i did thanks....

I got to a point where it would try to connect, go through the authenticate process and then it would fall off failing to connect to the network.

I think is time for a little cry and a nap and start again in a couple of hours !!!!!

Just gone through this pain myself. Hope you haven't yet given up.

You need to enter your carrier's APN (Access Point Name) in the Mobile Connect application.

I'm using Optus and the APN is "connect". Don't know about 3.

This was the page that helped me.

Ahh, I'm using it fine in 10.5.1? (With 3). I just followed the included instructions.

i don't have leopard, but i had major dramas getting it going in tiger. it now works beautifully.

it seems that others have it working well with leopard:

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/848307.html

get the latest driver from here:

http://www.megaupload.com/it/?d=DF2OIHPW

other helpful threads:

http://www.mobileconnected.co.uk/mac...opard-support/

i had to eventually manually uninstall the old vodafone software (look in your logs for the MHS Installer Log File), and then reinstall the new one.

good luck!

I suggest logging onto the net elsewhere and download the software updates then trying again.
