macbook 2.16 and ext hd very slow
guys i have a 2.16ghz macbook core 2 duo with 2 gig ram and a 500gb seagate external hd

i have just noticed that for somereason it transfers very very very slow now going up in increments of just 2mb or so where as before it was very quick

to give you an example it says its gonna take over 12 mins to transfer a 700mb file form my desktop to the ext drive

why would this have slowed down

time machine is not running and i only have 1 usb item plugged in

any help would be great

hi guys i only have 1 computer the one im using, its been mac formatted and as mentioned worked well before im stumped

weird i ejected the drive and plugged it back in and now its back upto speed
