Western Digital World Edition External Hard Drive

Hi all,

Has anyone got a Western Digital World Edition External Hard Drive?
I like the ability to access files off it from anywhere in the world but Im wary of security issues. Also is it easy to set up on a mac?

Cheers

i was looking at this, but i was under the impression that the software it comes with is a trial and you need to buy it(that is to access the files through the net)

I have one... Edition II.

It cannot be used to access data remotely from a Mac... Windows Only.

But, we don't use it for that... as a NAS, in mirrored mode, it makes an awesome redundant backup system for all of our important data. We will be buying more of these!

they dont, most likely. its a sad and true fact that mac just dont have enough market share for cheap companies such as WD to support. windows is just two common and to cheap to develop support for (because of the market share). when mac has %75 market share cheapo companies might start to take us seriously. beside built for mac stuff is just to cool and good to buy that shit

Bugger

The one thing I LOVE about my Mac is that "everything just works" but times like this make me go "bugger".

The one reason I was looking at the WD World Edition was for the remote access option.

Oh well back to the drawing board.
