Choosing to resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one...
After over twenty years away from the bricky goodness of Lego, imagine my surprise when my girlfriend gives me a 1:10 scale Lego Ferrari 599 for Christmas. She had been extremely worried that it was not something I'd be keen on, and now she regrets giving it, as it's reignited my passion with a fiery vengence. The difference between now and twenty years ago is simple and can be listed in two points:
Point 1: I'm earning money (to purchase my own Lego); and,
Point 2: Lego Star Wars. To rehash an overused Marvel comics phrase - 'nuff said.
There's actually a point 3 to this, that Lego make certain Star Wars vehicles in two models - the version for kids, and the 10000 numbered series called the Ultimate Collectors Series, of which the Star Destroyer from earlier in the thread is a member of. I'm sure most of you know this anyway.
Today was the final indication to me of my obsession. Last weekend I'd spied a Lego Death Star II ($580) set at Myer in Knox City, and in between buying presents for a christening, I went to lay-by it. I'd seen it before, last year at the Lego store in Disneyland, but I'd scoffed that it was for the Lego-nerd, and I certainly wasn't one of *those*. Today I was chewing on my hat as I went into the toy department to grab it, only to find that it was gone! I'm still devastated, hours later.
I guess my question to other Lego fans out there is this - how do you get your Lego? If you get it shipped in, is there a favorite site that you order from?
I need my fix of Lego, and the bigger the box (translation: the more pieces) the better.

There is a certain anonymity to purchasing online. In store its hard to hide your glee at your new purchase. Online purchasing might be able to be palmed off as 'for the kids' but when you walk into a store its kinda hard not to be excited.

well me and my 8 year old really want it...!
the Millennium Falcon would also be pretty cool, but I'm sure we'd both argue about whose turn it is to play with them lol!!

Looking at all the new lego sets, I missed those days where the pieces were very basic and few, and you'd have to really stretch your imagination. some of the plastic pieces are moulded so specifically they dont serve any other purpose. Now who's up for making a Lego iMac!

Oh yeah. My brother and I loved our lego with a passion I've not experienced since.
We used to build the most insane motorised dragsters, using wild gearing ratios - so much so that there wasn't enough torque to actually turn the wheels. Give it a jump start though, and it would rip!!!
