Scratch Removal

When I was upgrading my Mac mini, I didn't see that I placed the lid on a pile of crap which included a pair of scissors, a nail cutter and a screwdrivers set. This left a few minor scratches on the mini's lid. What can I do to get rid of the scratches? I used toothpaste on the lid and it only reduced it a little. Is there a magic fix it up solution or do I have to replace it?

I once used a soft cloth and some brasso on my last ipod and it came up really well. I had a fair few scratches on it and it took some effort, but was well worth it.

I don't have a mac mini, so not sure of the surface, but it may be worth a go.

I have scratches on the plastic top lid. I applied some Vaseline and if this works, I laugh. I can't believe I used toothpaste on my 17' LCD causing damage! Where do I find a place that stocks Brasso? Do they sell it in K-Mart, Big W, Bunnings and the like? It sounds like a magic solution.

Thanks, you saved me from asking the unenthusiastic Big W stock guy. Is it under the car/ cat and dog food section?
