New Aluminium Keyboard
I bought one on the weekend and it's great - under OSX.
I had a feeling i wouldn't be able to get it to work completely under bootcamp, but i'm surprised that it doesn't work at all!
XP says there was a failure when trying to install the Apple Keyboard, but doesn't give any further information.
Does anyone else have one that works under bootcamp?
Thanks!

This may help.

Probably the stupidest question and most obvious question here but.
Did you install the windows drivers? perhaps you should try and install them again on a new disk and see how it runs. my 0.2c

I haven't bought a new keyboard for a few reason most discussable of which is that when i went to try it (at streetwise if it matters) both times i had a go on it, it gave me a static shock which could if i were to buy one make a simple hard drive replacement or something not too dissimilar end rather expensively. I ask what is the point of replacing a plastic keyboard with one that can hold static electricity so well?

I think actually it was you that was charged and the keyboard was "uncharging you" so would have saved you from killing components. More to do with the carpet, your shoes and your clothing. Ive had the kbd a couple of days and am really getting to like it.

I'm more worried about my powered USB Hub that is connected to it... when I unplug the cable from the hub to the Keyboard, (disconnecting 4 devices from the computer) I can get a small electric shock from the unplugged USB cable... (but not the keyboard).
Makes me worry that I might fry the keyboard or the computer seeing as the hub is connected all the time.

The USB hub in mine works fine, I suspect this is windows' doing rather than the keyboard itself.
I installed the drivers from the bootcamp (1.4)cd, is that what you're talking about? Under OSX have also installed the keyboard update, though i haven't found anything for xp or the like.
Good to know that it works for others though, might backup some stuff and reload XP fresh, see if that makes any difference.

Anyone finding that the caps lock key really sucks on the new keyboard? If you tap it hard it doesn't come on? You have to tap it gently?

yeah, I've noticed that. I don't use it much so it doesn't bother me too much. I guess it's part of the new drivers??

It's actually quite a cool feature. It's designed so that you don't accidentally activate the caps lock.
You have to hold it down for just a fraction of a second longer. Turning the caps lock off doesn't require the longer press though.

Yup. That's not a bug. That's a feature. I know I've quite often accidentally hit capslock and ended up shouting half an essay. The delay on the aluminium keyboard is a lifesaver.

Hmmm, well I hate it. It drives me nuts. I'm quite a quick typer, and it's just not conducive to my typing speed at all. Really annoying, Apple!
