Airport Extreme Base Station setup Q?

I've got another question about setting up an AEBS. I originally set it up to 'Distribute IP addresses' in the 'Connection sharing (airport utility)' tab and set the ADLS modem/router in relay mode (which I presumed would not then act as a server). However, for no reason I could figure, occasionally the connection would drop out and I'd lose connectivity on both mac laptops. Rebooting the AEBS would reconnect and then be OK.

I've just changed the settings in 'Connection Sharing' to "Bridge' mode and have re-enabled server mode on my modem/router. I'll be interested to see if this makes any differences to the dropouts I've been having.

Do most of you guys let the AEBS assign IP's, or leave that to the modem/router (if you have a combined unit)??

Otherwise, any ideas why I'd get dropouts??

Hey, I think you'd be better off enabling bridge mode in your modem/router and using the AEBS as the router, AP and DHCP server. In my experience the way you are describing (I think?) can be troublesome..
