Three Wireless Broadband on iMac

Have just purchsed first apple iMac 17" 0S X 10.4.8 and a Three mobile wireless modem (it is a Huweii Modem) but neither myself or 3 can figure out why we cant get online. Did try it on Windows laptop and worked perfectly!
As I am only new to Mac's, does anyone know a reason or a step I am missing (I have reistalled drivers and modems about 20 times still with no outcome)
Thanks

Well, I doubt this will help but after installing the drivers and connecting the modem open up the "Network" pane in system preferences.

Doubt it'll work but it turns out this was what needed to be done to get a BigPond USB stick working for my boss. Wasted hours trying to work out why the device had signal, could join the network but not actually be used to send or receive data.

also run software update, you may need a newer version of os x then 10.4.8

I was fixing this identical problem for Vodafone's wireless network with the same modem yesterday.

I uninstalled the software using the uninstaller provided. I updated the entire system (which was badly in need of it - and two or three of the updates were specifically related to networking), I restarted and repaired permissions and then reinstalled the modem software. After restarting once more and letting it come fully up to speed, I connected the HUAWEI modem and it worked like a breeze.

I think I can fix your problem!

Three phone support is shit, though apparently a WAMUG forum member said that they have a dedicated mac guy that helped him.

the instructions that came with the modem are SHIT. they miss out a crucial step: go to internet connect in your menu bar, (under the phone menu) - enter *99# as the phone number.

Then you need to go to the MobileConnect program that you should have installed in your applications folder and enter "3netaccess" or something similar in the APN section. I can't get a screenshot for you of this as I don't have the modem with me - but I think the instructions were ok for this part.

Believe it or not I had to resort to the mac instructions for 3 in the UK/ireland to find this out!!
UK instructions here:
http://www.three.co.uk/threefiles/ma...SBModemMac.pdf
don't use the UK APN though

Hope that helps and it's not some other problem ...

Purana, the three modem is different to xseries. That won't work on the huawei modem

globe telecom has the Huawei MAC drivers online and avaliable to everyone

these are generic drivers from Huawei e220 / e620

http://www.myglobe.com.ph/myGlobe/ot...PP_PPC.pkg.zip

http://www.myglobe.com.ph/myGlobe/pd...for_Mac_v2.pdf

this works on the e220 i got from china, and an optus branded one I was lent.

(it also works on the e270 - google it).
