Exclamation MBP to Plasma

Hello everyone,
ok I have read a little here and there on the forum about connecting a laptop to a plasma tv and came to the conclusion that in order to get the best quality display on the plamsa connected to a laptop I need a DVI - HDMI cable... that is fine.
Until I went to JB-HI and the cable was something like $70 for a DVI - HDMI cable and that is the only type of cable the have too for laptop to tv connections.

$70? is that right?

It seems like a lot of money for a little cable, like seriously..

what are my other options, or do I just have the bite the bullet and buy it?

thanks in advance

they are expensive, if you have a dvi cable you could just get dvi to hdmi adaptor
check ebay, jaycar etc, there are better prices

yeah, i just purchased an LCD tv & just bought a dvi to dvi, since my tv has dvi & not hdmi, .. no probs & it is a flawless connection. i paid i think $50 for that cable, .. 24K Gold plated(usual crap) Bing Lee.... look, i also feel it's a scam paying that sort of dosh for a cable, but i didn't think about when i did, .. simply closed my eyes & paid the money. A good shop will actually discount this, should you ask. Also came with a lifetime guarantee, .. hmm

good luck Mate!

When I had my mac mini connected to the plasma, I just used a DVI-HDMI adaptor - $15 from Jaycar. Worked well.

But beware, you may have some resolution issues with the plasma and the MBP. Not everyone does, but the DVI to HDMI connection tends to throw a few spanners in the works. The vga resolution on my plasma was perfect for photos etc. but video was way to jerky. The DVI to HDMI for my pioneer worked well, but I did have some overscan.
