Best Multifunction Printers For Macs
Hey Guys
okay this is going to sound like a silly question but run with me here. I just bought a cheap multifuction printer for my new mac and am really happy with it.. However I would like to upgrade to a really nice one soon. Now I understand there is thousands of printers but which ones work best with mac.. and which ones include excellent software that works with mac.. Not just some software ported from windows...
Also one quick thing.. Do multifuction printers work with the airport extremes usb port or is it just printers?

or start here

Brother and Canon spring to mind - used both on Macs and XP/Vsita
NB These were the laser ones.

I recently picked up a Canon MP800R.
Features :
Connects to USB, wired or wireless network
5 independent colour cartridges - buy only what you need
Read and print from camera memory cards
Scanner (2400x4800 DPI)
Prints to CD/DVDs
Reliable OSX and XP drivers
Just checked them out online - looks like they stopped making them - the MP600R looks similar.

when you say wireless network do you mean plugin it to the USB side of the airport or does it have 802.11 built into the unit?

I had trouble at first, my own dumb fault. Instead of using the install CD I downloaded and installed newer drivers from the net, but they wouldn't detect the printer.
It worked fine when I started from scratch using the CD (there must be some extra voodoo going on in the install scripts) and then updated the drivers over the top.
I've tried all three modes (wired, wireless and USB), all work fine.
One word of advice (for Canons at least - maybe others), when printing on glossy paper use Canon brand, all the rest come out crap for some reason.

Neither have wifi (both USB only I think), the first has a fax, the second has a better scanner and 7 colour printing.
(also note the edit on my my previous post about paper choice)

Another note...
My model (and probably the 600 as well) uses client memory for scanning. So doing a high res scan over wifi could be a little sluggish.

Guys, one question: does wireless scanning work? The last time I checked, while in general multi-function printers can't be added wirelessly, those that can will have limited features - usually can't scan over the network.
