Unmount a GPS and it re-mounts

I have a magellan Explorist GPS that I'm trying to get working in a windows application using parallels. The problem appears to be that as soon as I turn the gps on it mounts as a device on the mac. Thats ok.

However when I unmount it it just re-mounts itself about 2 seconds later. I can't get it to not mount itself

So, poor old parallels doesn't have a chance. As soon as I unmount it from the mac it mounts it, and then a second later osx re-claims it.

Does anyone have any ideas how i can stop this thing re-mounting?

Thanks!

Maybe it's a parallels problem??

When the gps is mounted on the mac, I switch to parallels. Then go to usb controller and select mass storage device. Windows pulls up a folder and then parallels says

"USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another application. Close that application or unplug the device and plug it again. Then try to connect the device again."

Heeeelp

I seem to have this working. I found that by going into disk manager, and then un-mounting the drive (not ejecting) I could get it to work

Sorry to trouble you all I promise to post a photo in the project area when it's all done
