Mighty Mouse lost its right-click
Has anyone had this problem? My wireless standard mouse died, so Apple replaced it with a mighty mouse. Now, after about 2 weeks, it has lost its right click. Is there a way you can get into it to clear out any dust, or do I have to take it in for repairs?
Not a real hassle as I have to put my macbook in again anyway, before it loses warranty, as the mouse button is pretty poor on that.

It is the same set of contacts for left and right button so that suggests it thinks you are still touching the left side? If its not user error ie still touching the left while pressing on the right then I suspect its got a logic problem. Have you checked the prefs as it defaults to one button mode.
Ive got three of these and they have worked great for ages. It's fun to watch non mighty mouse users try to right button

Check the mouse preferences and see what is asigned to the right click - I have had the right click disappear and found the preferences had "reset" and given it the same function as the left click

I had already checked the preferences, as I thought I might be able to reassign the right button to one of the other buttons. Unfortunately, it is still set up correctly. I even tried to flip the buttons (eg Right click primary and Left click secondary) and that doesn't work either. Previous to this it was working well, but slowly the sweet spot for the right clock got smaller and smaller, and now I am back to control click.
Thanks for your help. Seems I am destined to spend a lot of time at my apple shop!

When you flip the functions which function works? Is it the old left or the old right ?

Primary mouse click works regardless of whether it is assigned to left or right.

Hmm doesnt that suggest that the hardware is OK? I'd be tempted to try it on another system. Are there any convenient? Retail outlets?
The shrinking working zone suggests hardware fault though.

Hmm. I see your point. I will see what happens. My husband has a MBP that has been in for repair/replacement for 3 weeks. When he gets it back, I will try it out on that.

FYI: I also rarely sometimes find I loose my right click on my wireless mighty mouse - I don't know why but I generally find rebooting my MBP fixes it - also don't know why

The main issue with the Mighty Mouse has always been a flaky scroll ball, not so the mouse button - so I think the mouse is pretty much stuffed.
You could however take it apart and check/clean the switches inside

Strangely enough, it has improved again. So maybe Remorhaz has the right idea. Or maybe I was drunk for a couple of days and incoordianted....
For the moment I will bear with it and see what happens. Thanks for all your suggestions, though.

The right click on my WMM only work 50% of the time and I kinda given up right click on the WMM. I just use the Control+click and gotten use to after switching over hahaha
Any methods to improve the right click sensitivity? Thanks

I'm now using my third WMM.
First one lost all use of scroll-ball.
Second one only scrolled down not up.
Local Apple dealer confirmed the fault both times and replaced under warranty.

I have a few Mighty Mouses and they all seem prone to losing part or all of the scroll ball functionality and after I got sick of returning them I found this.. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302417
And it works, I simply turn the mouse upside down and vigourously rub up and down a trouser leg. It helps not to do it in front of Apple sceptics though..

Would you recommend buying a mighty mouse, or should i just play it safe with say, a logitech one instead? I've been interested about them for a little while, but yeah, have heard problems like the one you listed above.. What's the warranty like?
