Just noticed that the main Apple TV add at the Apple Au now says if its on Itunes its on Apple TV

My understanding is that it is referring to iTunes the Application, but even if it means the iTunes Store that doesn't mean any more video content is imminent for the Australian store. You can still get music, music videos, Pixar short movies and podcasts (including video podcasts) on the Australian store, and you can access all of them from an AppleTV

I think the Australian iTunes Store might see movie download this year (Apple has said they plan to take movies international in 2007), but I think we will see TV shows about the same time we get iPhoto books! Some things seem to be just too hard for Apple to bother with in a market as small as Australia.

Well it took that long for us to get the iTMS at all

I doubt we'll get tv shows or movies unless its linked to a deal with other markets ie. a regional distribution deal or something

Otherwise I think we'll be waiting till 2008 at the earliest realistically

TV shows-locally produced shows are most likely-intl, like Lost a bit harder to get (would Seven or the US Producer be invovled)?

It may still have Lost etc. on there, but the episodes available will be the same ones on commercial tv that week, a day later. Keeps everyone happy :-)
