Anyone use a KVM?

I'm looking at buying a KVM that allows for the following connections.

Inputs - PS/2 Mouse and PS/2 Keyboard (Windows), One Mac VGA signal, One PC VGA signal.
Outputs - One USB cable to Mac, One USB cable to PC, One VGA cable to LCD monitor.

Does anyone have experience with a similar setup? If so, will it work without a hitch? My main concerns are with the PS/2/Win Mouse and keyboard and how these will work on the Mac.

Cheers

kvm's will come with vga + ps2 (or vga + usb) Not seen any that mix, so hopefully the windows machine can take usb plugs from kvm as ps2 ones from the the kvm to mac won't work

EDIT: and to clarify further, I have a usb kb/mouse and vga monitor that hooks upto kvm which the kvm has usb lead and vga cable to each of the 2 machines, works fine with the mac and windows system. cost me I think about $60 or so... A-TEN is the people who make it, will dig up a link to where I bought it shortly. Mine is HERE

Providing the PC was released in the past 5-6 years, you shouldnt have any issue with a USB KVM.

Make sure you enable USB Legacy support in BIOS with a PS2 keyboard eg before you plug in your USB Keyboard/KVM then switch to the USB KVM, otherwise you wont be able to use a USB keyboard in any environment that doesnt load USB drivers. If that makes any sense.

Here's a pic of the KVM I'm looking at - http://www.merchantrun.com.tw/mrtg_i...M-KC021-41.jpg

As you can see, plug in the PS/2 input devices, output the signals via USB - so will this make the PS/2 devices work on my Mac?

I've used this one from Iogear before. Great quality and reliability.
Around 70 bucks.

It is all USB and VGA, but you can easily find ps2->usb adaptators.

Are you using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard with it and do these devices work on your Mac?

So the PS/2-USB adapters will allow PS/2 devices to work on a Mac?

For people after a little bit more

Dual DVI, not exactly cheap... I have always been suprised by the cost and the limited functionality kvm switches provide. That said i have never tried to build one before.

Yop!

All it does is convert the PS2 connection to the USB, so it should work.

Thanks for the replies

I've decided to get the Aten C-62U for around $50. Will get it later next week.

I'm wondering how a Windows keyboard translates to the Mac environment - for example, which key becomes the Apple Key?!
