Hi everyone,
Ok this topic is baasically because I would like to know (as I'm about to replace mine) what printer you use, what features do you like about it and stuff. I remember a while ago reading a positive review on here regading the Cannon Pixma iP5000, which had good quality, duplexing, print directly to CDs and other stuff and wasn't too expensive.

My current printer is an Epson Photo 810, and it's print quality has now got worse and worse over time, needs heads cleaned and realigned all the time and I think it's due to be replaced.

So what's your printer of choice?

You can't go past the Canon PIXMA range. The whole reason I bought my iP3000 is the fact that they print directly onto discs. The print quality is fantastic and the price for their printers is reasonable. However once you run out if ink I suggest going to one of those computer swap meets and pick yourself up some $6 ink tank catridges instead of paying $30 for a Canon cartridge.

I've got an Epson Stylus Photo R800 and couldn't be happier with it, by far the best printer I've used.

I've always used Canon's prior to this printer, but they have always caused me a load of grief, so based on my own experience with them I won't be buying another Canon in a hurry...

HP2710 for me full wireless network printing, scanner, fax, copier.

Also includes memory card reader and allows you to scan to a memory card if you want.

Was a Canon man up until this but is the best printer I have had (also has sleep mode so I never switch it off and just hint print from Ibook and it wakes up).

Hewlett Packard. I have always used them, and have had no problems with print quality. My next printer will be a colour laser.

I bought a Canon PIXMA MP800 just a week and a bit ago. This is replacing an all-in-one HP that I never much liked - a poor buy on my part - and am very glad to see the end of.

However, the MP800 is a very impressive machine. I'm very happy with it. The photo print quality is amazing - if it is not photo-lab quality, it comes astoundingly close. It prints duplex. It scans pictures from negatives and slides. The bundled software for scanning and OCR is pretty decent. It does the printing direct onto CDs/DVDs (though haven't tried this feature yet). The colour display is pretty neat.

I'd recommend this machine to anyone.

I use a Samsung ML-1740. B&W laser. Does the job for all I need (printing invoices for clients).

I saw a great quote on a printer box today, on the top of the Canon Pixma 4200, the slogan read 'Advanced Simplicity'!! Good to see we're in the advanceed stages of simplicity now.

I just installed a new Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A

It's a colour laser @ $650.00.

Absolutley great! For colour or black & white docs (I'm doing Uni part time) and the odd project for work etc it is perfect.

Previously had a HP Colour Laser - piece of crap compared to Xerox - don't waste your money

As a bonus, it prints photo's really well, though no substitute for a dedicated photo printer.

Mac set up and support - the all important factor - easy & flawless - printing in less than one minute from plugging it in.

I use a lexmark optra 1650 b/w laser. Perfect for us with 4 networked macs, and a pc that I use the parallel option with.

I'll never buy another inkjet printer cos they are so expensive to run - its almost cheaper to throw out the printer each time you need a new cartridge

My children sometimes complain that we dont have a colour printer but they all work so thay can buy their own. Besides which I'm sure I know what colour pix my sons are most interested in

I bought the Canon 4200 last week at Dick Smith in Civic for $187-. It is a great printer, and the bloke at the suppplier i buy my ink from tells me there will be a diy refill workaround for the new chips within three months. Canon have always made great printers, remember that the stylewriters were mostly made by canon and rebadged

like minardifan, I got a HP 2710 for the wireless networking capabilities.

Just using an adhoc network, however, I find it a little flaky. Absolutely flawless on an ethernet network though. It also only has one black cartridge and one colour cartridge, and you replace the balck cartridge with a print colour cartridge for phot quality. Thecartridges are not cheap, but that applies to my old man's pixma too (and he has 6 cartridges).

Anyway the best bit about HP is the service. A month or so ago my six month old printer got fried in a thunderstorm (it was surge protected thru the power, but not the fax line).
Rang up HP to check that that was the problem. They determined it was, but also agreed to provide me with a new machine, even though storms are not covered by the warranty.

Can't complain about that service!

lexmark e230 here. works like a charm. usb to airport express for wireless printing. the only crap thing about it is the small tray (only takes 250 sheets of paper) but its only been an issue once, and that was due to user error (not fully restocking).
