I've had the 3GS since launch day and I must say I really don't like the battery % indicator. It's beginning to make me really paranoid about battery life. The moment I take it out of the charger it goes down to 99%. I open my mail and quickly scan my emails. 98%. I open an App and play a game for a few mintues. 96%. I make a call and speak for a few minutes. 93%. And on and on and down and down the % goes.
It's really freaking me out. I know I should just turn it off but I can't. I thought the 3GS was supposed to have better battery life but I actually think it is worse than the 3G. I don't have push notifications on but I do have push for emails on (mainly for the in case of emergency of needing to use Find My iPhone). Am I just being a paranoid android?

It allows me to "stretch" the battery life that little extra bit further - useful indeed.

I found the answer to this problem is to leave it plugged in, all day...

I noticed that the % declines very rapidly from 100 down to about 50 - 60, then however the decline slows rapidly. I have mine set with wifi and 3g always ON, I browse, email, etc frequently. From taking off the charge it went down to about 75% in about an hour and a half. By 12:30 it was down to around 65%. At 4pm it was still showing about 50%. 8 hours of mainly internet, a mix of 3g and wifi - very few phone calls or texts. I was pretty happy actually.

I'm disappointed that they don't publish the figure with a couple of decimal places . . .

I don't mind the feature and i'm not para about it, but I did like the JB implementation better. I used to be able to tap the battery icon to show just the battery, then tap the battery icon again to show just a percentage - instead of how Apple have officially implemented it by putting the battery and percentage next to each other. Looks ugly to my eye, especially with statusbar notifiers next to them

Well it's definitely the Push that is causing the bad battery life. I fully charged my phone and switched Push off. I don't have bluetooth activated but i do have WiFi always connected. With Push is off the battery life is significantly higher.
Now I likey the % indicator!

I noticed turning PUSH off saved tons of battery life months ago. I went from 1 day light use to 3 days light use standby, by turning it off. I was really pissed when I relized the new 'Find my iPhone' feature needs PUSH to work. Oh well guess I cant keep tabs on where my misses is then. |

Also frustrated that Find my iPhone needs Push to work. Not completely understanding how Push works yet, I kinda wonder if having Push for one account (MobileMe, in order for FMI to work) uses any less battery life than having two or more. I have an Exchange account on my iPhone also and wonder if it would make a difference if I turned push on on that, hey I already have it on for MobileMe...
