This is what the dev team is waiting for to see if Apple fix the hole for the Jailbreak. Apparently they could jailbreak now but are holding off til the next version comes out.

So far I'm not having problems with 3.0 at all... though there is the group SMS "bug" (not really a bug, but just bad functionality).

^I seem to recall that beta and actual release numbers weren't always the same in the past... but maybe I'm dreaming. I'm sure one of the 2.x releases was actually different when it came out.

I wonder if we'll get any extra cool functionality.

It's mainly about adding access to the video editing APIs and some other stuff for the 3G S. Can't see much in there for regular ol' 3G users in my quick scan.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I'll get a chance tonight when I get home. Might shove it on my iPod touch 1G before putting on iPhone, just in case it is really beta..

I'm just updating now... I won't be able to give an analysis of the user - end changes until this arvo though.

Judging from the thread at Macrumors, it seems some bugs have been fixed, baseband has been updated (from 04.* to 05.*) and performance (especially at boot) is a little faster. So yay! No word on Group MMS/SMS bug though.

I had to cancel the backup of my phone in iTunes as it stalled. Please, please may we not head back to the days of six hour backups...

Needless to say if you're going to be relying on the free unlock from dev team, DON'T upgrade either to the beta or the final when it comes out.

Of course they are all different, unless its an approved for release Gold Master.

It's a feature, not a bug.

Carriers can push an update out at any time to switch between group MMS or Group SMS, with a one line change in the carrier bundle. but so far they haven't

I should have guessed this was about to hit... I downloaded the 3.0 SDK (all 2gb of it) just yesterday!

You've misinterpreted the post. Mitty is referring to the version numbers (eg. 3.1 beta graduates to final but with a different version number, like 3.0.1).

I had to cancel this morning as well due to a stall.

I just hope it fixes the lag in typing.

I'd like the MMS threads and group SMS/MMS to be fixed please. That's the first thing that comes to mind.. the fact that I can't think of anything else immediately is a good thing I think.

Haha, yep that's exactly what I meant (but didn't put it so eloquently).
