Yeah, you could try those complicated instructions for Canadian phones, or you could use the same simple ones for Australian carriers that everyone's been using all week and have been discussed in all the other threads!

Outward bound MMS just sent.

Pretty simple really. Just start a new SMS, then click on the camera icon at the bottom left of screen, you can choose to take a new pic or select an existing image. Once you have selected your image a small thumbnail is pasted above your message text. That's pretty much it.

I used the instructions here
Enable tethering on Optus 3.0GM - Optus - iPhone - Whirlpool Broadband Forums
to enable optus tethering (the link at the top of the page)

Keep it simple. Just use your iPhone's Safari to access the following site and navigate to the appropriate section. My Optus iPhone (never cracked) downloaded and updated the config and it's all good. Stuff Optus for the extra delay and charges! We want the data we are entitled to and want it now!!!

Haha, oops, didn't read too much into the threads on running 3.0 before it came out.

Thanks for the link Phunky.

Edit: And Ciprol, trying your link now.

You can easily enable Tethering on Optus by adding another access point to the carrier profile (Optus_AU.ipcc), I duplicated the first one, zipped it up and loaded it onto the phone through iTunes and Tethering now works. I can't see that this will change either because firmware 3.0 is now public.

I spent 6 minutes on hold to talk to them, but they weren't picking up. They really want $10 for it? When we have already paid fair and square for the data?

trick is how to enable MMS, cell data and tether while avoiding optus's "addon fee" for tethering.

Default Where's Push?

Having lots of fun with 3.0 but I can't find where you turn push notifications on and off.

Can anybody help?

Also, I sent an MMS to myself. It arrived OK but it showed the mobile number as 614xxxx instead of displaying my name. I do have a contact of myself with my mobile number. Anybody else had this issue?

Thanks

I had the same problem, but after opening an app the supports push (Tap Tap Revenge 2) the option appeared in Settings.

Load this on your iPhone
http://gallery.cactuar.net/au_optus.mobileconfig
or to make it easier to type on the phone.

This is a modified copy of the one you'd get from help.benm.at except that it uses the iphones normal "yesinternet" APN rather than the "internet" apn he's set his to.

No user generated ipcc file can simultaneously have both tethering and mms/phone internet. Ie if you want free tethering you can't send mms or even browse web on phone.

Mine works fine.

MMS won't work on the 2G iphone, are you using a 2g or a 3g?
