I still cant seem to work out the BT. But having no problems with tethering.
So if anyone has some tips for tehtering on a Vista machine that would be nice. As the phone and computer seem to be able to find each other. And the computer lists 3 things it can share. But the phone says not connected. I did make up a pass key though. if that makes a difference. |

Could someone who has already picked up their 3GS confirm that this help.benmat.at method of enabling tethering definitely works on the 3GS. I can't think of any reason why it would work on the 3G but not the 3GS, but just in case...
EDIT: Okay, I can now answer my own question. Yes, it works. Last edited by laughingbird; 26th June 2009 at 03:53 PM. |

I have had pretty good speed results just then, with working MMS.
This is the method I used and then the results below. 1. Go to Tether me! 2. Click 'Enter an APN manually?' 3. Enter 'yesinternet' (without the ') into the APN box 4. Enter your email into the email box and hit send 5. When the email lands in your inbox open the attachment and install the settings 6. Do what I posted previously and the APN should read yesinternet

Our DSL connection was down for a whole day on Wednesday while we were being upgraded to ADSL2+, but the data tethering worked a treat over Telstra.
Hooked it up to the MBP via USB and automagically worked flawlessly. However when I plugged it into a Dell Win XP it didn't come up. Meh...

Hey,
I've just plugged my iPhone in to sync with iTunes and it's telling me that there are new carrier settings available from Optus. Does anyone know whether this will break my tethering, or make the tethering visible to Optus? I'm using the tethering config file from http://weave.zarack.com/OptusTetherv1.mobileconfig . Thanks.

Can anyone on Telstra confirm whether "tether me" is the preferred for Telstra tethering and if it changes the APN from telstra.iph and that causes any issues regarding billing data pack use etc.
And oh it's for tethering to a vista laptop. Any issues there?

Does anyone know if the firmware update 3.0.1 breaks tethering?

Finally! I did it! I tried to download all sorts of stuff to get tethering working on Telstra when I noticed help.benm.at had a custom mobile config feature... so I tried that as a last resort.. just set it to telstra.iph with no user name or password with tethering turned on... done... simple... no idea why the various mobileconfigs I downloaded didn't work... but now I can use tethering... finally...
