Default iPhone as an alarm?

Hi all,

Just a quick question re the iPhone:
Does it have alarm clock built in? Or is there an alarm clock app available?

Just thinking about shelling out some hard earned pesos and just wanted to clarify this one first.

Any advice on who's the best provider to go with at the moment? I see Vodafone have a couple of decent deals going, but not a lot of data included (in the ones I looked at anyway)

All my business stuff is with Telstra at the moment (landlines and Freecall numbers) except for my mobile phone.
Was thinking of maybe going with Telstra to get the 10% discount thing…

Alarm clock is built in, works well, and is pretty loud.

There is a default alarm clock, which does the job. Just don't turn off your iphone overnight or it won't go off! Learnt the hard way...you can just put it in airplane mode instead.

Even with a 10% discount, Telstra will still be way more expensive than the rest. They do have the best coverage though.

Best coverage does not mean best service (or price).

I use the alarm clock every day. I plug it into my Bose Sound dock. It is ridiculously loud.

Believe me, I know.

But once you're wrapped with Telstra (Home, Mobile, Bigpond) there's no going back.

And besides, you can get some pretty sweet deals if you've been a customer with them for quite a number of years. (My dad scored some deals a few years back on some handsets for the family)

But Telstra have been known to provide some great discounts over the years. You just have to look closely to find them.

Another iPhone alarm user here. I use the Marimba alert as the others are either too soft or jolt me awake thinking "AIR RAID!!!". Would be nice to have customised alarms without jailbreaking. The best ever alarm alert I've ever had was the generic Nokia one.

You do know you can choose any custom ringtone as an alarm?

friggin hilarious

Thanks for all of the replies guys, much obliged.
Should mention that I am quite a heavy sleeper so the alarm has to be pretty loud. Should this be a problem?

Hey I used the alarm clock until it didn't wake me up one day. I think the problem was that the 20% remaining alert came up sometime during the night and by not clearing it the alarm didn't work. When I woke up late I checked the phone, dismissed the 20% alert and the alarm suddenly started.

I wouldn't rely on it!!!

The alarm works even if you have set the phone to silent. So you get the 6:30 alarm, but not the 3am drunk call.

iPhone alarm is good... loud enough without extra speakers.
Very convenient how you can have different rules / alarms permanently set up!
Love it! I don't use my normal clock radio alarm any more...
just need to find a nice speaker / charging option for my iPhone now next to my bed!

I use the iphone alarm, but I'm beginning to find that I'm subconsciously either hitting snooze or turning it off when it sounds. Perhaps my brain has learnt the location and finger gesture required to turn it off over the last 6 months.

I'd like it if the button to silence the alarm moved around the screen randomly from day to day, being much harder to silence unless you're awake and paying attention as a result.
