(My apologies in Advance as I did post this in an other thread, but got no response, possibly overlooked, so I thought I start a separate one)

A quick question, I am interested in the new 2.1 for stability and the lovely new stuff, however i am running 2.02 on pwned 1st generation phone. I see from the threads that you can update to 2.1 through Itunes and keep your unlock but you lose you jailbreak - no problem with that.

The question I have, is that ,say I update and everything is fine, i.e. unlocked and after a while, for whatever reason I need to restore my phone using the restore function in Itunes ----> What happens???? Does it restore from the backup or does it do a fresh firmware install? I have never had to restore my phone so am interested to find out.

Can you restore through Itunes and keep the unlock, or will it restore to a phone which needs activation.

If you need to do a restore you will loose your activation and be out of use. They have cracked FW 2.1 just a new pawnage tool is not out. It should be in the next few days. Then you can make a new pawned firmware file that you can use for a restore and you will be set to go.

If you come to that path just post in the appropriate thread or do a google and you will find the info needed. iClarified is great for pictorial guides.

i updated mine last nite and dont miss any of the jailbreak stuff, apart from the number formatting, but its not a deal breaker....
