Reception on my iPhone is great. 5 bars most of the time, I'm about 2 km from Adelaide CBD. My internet is super fast too. My roaming charges totalled 20 cents last month. Couldn't be happier.

Did you consider checking the coverage in your area before buying a 3 simcard? One 2 minute check of the 3 coverage map shows that there minimal 3G coverage in Berwick. Sounds like somebody didn't do their research and wants to blame 3 for it.

I live in Victoria Park (Perth) and travel to work near Subiaco and find 3's reception really good. Never had any drop outs or service problems - and I've had my phone on 3 since late July.

Internet speeds are extremely fast for me too.

Funny thing is that my Nokia N73 with the 3 sim in it actually works reasonably well in the same area...
It still roams 40% of the time but I often do get a 3G signal.

My iPhone is with Vodafone. It almost always shows a 3g signal but only one bar. BUT only ever had one call drop out with the iPhone on Voda compared to many drop-outs with the N73 on Three...

Bottom line is I am not complaining about my iPhone or Three's 3g coverage - I'm just reporting what was asked - how is Three's 3g where I am and the answer is it's crap on both my N73 and iPhone, but worse on the iPhone than the N73

FWIW, I am seriously considering Telstra 3G as it seems to me that once you get out in 'the sticks' like Berwick then they are the only ones with coverage

I live in Glebe and work in the Sydney CBD. At work I've always got full coverage/service, I hardly ever roam unless I'm in the belly of my office building. At home, it clings to 3G and roams rarely. No problems with call drop outs or anything but I only ever have about one bar of service. Which is a bit weird, but nothing to complain about really. My last bill (I've had my iPhone about a month and half on Three) only had roaming charges totalling 3cents.

My understanding is that 3 use telstra when out of normal range.
I use 3 and live in Cairns, my phone works great from here to Port Douglas.
because I amount of the "city" range I don't have access to a lot of the multimedia features but I can still send videos and such so it does me fine.

Send videos? Are you using data, schwatted? You're being charged $1.65/mb because you're roaming on Telstra's GPRS network. If you use ANY mobile data you will be charged at this rate, regardless of what data plan you have signed up for.

I hope you're sending those videos on WiFi.

I find that 3's coverage within the metro/urban areas brilliant and a lot denser than Optus. Not to mention MUCH faster too. A speed test comparison with testmyiphone.com yielded 630kbps for Optus and 1.1mbps for 3 at the exact same location!

I'm mostly around Clayton, Knox, Melbourne CBD. Nearly always 5 bars in open spaces and 3 bars indoors. Stacks faster than Optus's HSDPA.

I am based in a building on Waymouth Street adelaide on the 11th floor and i keep getting "Network Lost" and it roams all day, then i go home and i have to make the phone switch back to the 3 network, and i live 5 minutes from city and i have never seen full bars... on every other phone i have had though i have never had issues with reception

I live about 5km from the Melbourne CBD, and travel up to 15km away every day.

At home I have 1 bar of reception, but I have no drop outs, it never roams, and the call quality is crystal clear.

When out, I've only noticed it roam once [I have it out in the car so I can see it all the time] and otherwise I get anywhere between 1 and 5 bars of reception [usually about 3]

Quite happy with it on 3 thus far.

I haven't used 3 3G service but a friend of mine does and he said it gets roamed to Telstra network every now and then and when it does, it's bloody expensive. No surprise there anyway!!

better than my nokia 6280 honestly. I live literally meters outside the three 3g zone but use wifi at home bit I travel through three coverage and my work is covered too.

In three zones always over 1.5mbps. I've noticed using gps on maps is always very accurate with three. The maps keep up ok not like with optus .

I've had my iPhone unlocked since Friday and have used it all over Brisbane across the weekend and I've only roamed once. It stood up perfectly throughout Riverfire too! I've visited Southbank, Toowong, Fortitude Valley, Bulimba, Teneriffe, Lytton, Morningside, Norman Park, Camp Hill and Coorparoo and had zero issues.

The small gap I experience is in the rail-cutting between Park Road Station and Southbank Station, but even Telstra NextG struggles there.

Yeah, I'm talking about the iPhone on 3. I'm very impressed with the iPhone's reception and initially I agreed with people on reception and speeds when it was on Optus but the moment I put my 3 SIM in, 3G reception and speeds are doubled easily!

With full signal strength on 3, testmyiphone easily shows 1.2mbit/s speeds. Previously with my Dopod 838 Pro, at home in my room I would have 1-2bar reception and call drops like crazy but now with the iPhone, same signal strength, never had a dropped call. Not complaining at all!
