Default video wackiness...file format not supported

hey all,

don't know how widely this issue is happening, but are others having dramas playing what should be ok video files on their 2.0.1 iPhone/touch's?

I usually record stuff with my eyetv, dump it as an MPEG file then use handbrake to convert it to what I want. been doing this fine for a while now. suddenly my phone doesn't like the files hbrake is putting out (iphone preset, but dropped down to 800kbps - I leave the aspect and size as determined a/magically)

weird thing is I thought I would try on my 4G iPod, and no problem! plays iTunes no problem, but iPhone doesn't want to know about it and refuses to play. is this 2.0.1? or is there some known foible in the way the phone handles video?

input welcome

I've got some avi's that were converted with iSquint that are running fine on a 2.0.1 iphone. Try running the vid through isquint, probably won't work, but worth a try

Gonna throw 2.0.2 on here first and see if that is the culprit then give VisualHub another try. it was a little hit and miss too...which is a right shame cause it is usually my backup converter

nope....visualhub doesn't change a jot, I'll try re-exporting this file to MPEG again and seeing what happens this time.
