Default Optus - Can I....

Hey guys,
new here, I have been reading this forum for a while now and decided to ask you knowledgable folks a couple of questions about Optus :P

1. I am a 4th year uni student. I am not currently working. I get centrelink and I have a credit card with my name on it. I pay my bills every month. Am I going to be approved for a 12 month post-paid $49 cap plan? Is there something I can bring as "proof" of my ability to pay a bill?

2. Am I able to sign up for a post-paid contract and use my credit card to pay for half the bill, and then Bpay for the other half? The reason I ask this is because I am a Uni student, and my parents give me $50 per month for phone credit, which I have to put on the card. I will be paying the phone payments myself. Looking over the Optus website it seems that it might be possible.

3. A few months into my contract, am I able to make a lump sum payment off of the mobile repayments? Or is this only at the beginning. I am hoping to go on a 12 month contract and I will be getting a scholarship payment in about 3 months.

I know I should probably call Optus and ask, but I am busy for a few hours and was hoping to get an answer by the time my lectures are over this afternoon :P

Thanks guys!

So long as your credit rating is ok you should be fine... If you have been paying back your credit card and such it should all work out fine. As for lump sum payments i don't see why you can't as you are getting finance from a loan company too buy it in the first place... i am sure they would be glad too accept the lump sum earlier than the whole lot is due too be paid.

Just one thing... When you can't do everything you want on the iphone don't say i didn't tell you optus' network is a failure.

Well, my parents pay for the credit card >.> It's technically my dad's card but I have a card linked to the credit account.

I was with Optus for around half my time as a mobile user... and I am going with them because they have a much better plan, Telstra doesn't offer a cap. I am currently with Telstra, and it's got the worst reception where I live, Optus is much better, I never had an issue with reception. As for the extra features, I will probably just use the phone for music, messaging and games, I don't need maps or anything like that.

Currently using a Treo 750, and It's an absolute brick / piece of crap, Windoze Mobile FTL
I got it last year to tide me over till the iPhone came out here, and I am anxious to get rid of it ASAP :P

So I just got back from Allphones,
Success! I signed up for the $49 cap on a 12 month contract.

When I called Optus they told me that they weren't getting anymore iPhones till 12th september, however the Allphones guy told me Wednesday... So yeah, I hope the allphones guy is right :P

Edited to add: I decided to get the white iPhone as I'm a bit of an Apple nut, not to mention the fact that it's less of a fingerprint magnet than the black (my best friend has this), and the fact that people have been getting their White iPhones alot easier than the black.
