Default Next iPhone 3G Shipment?

Today I had a chance to get an 8GB iPhone but didn't get one since I want a 16GB iPhone from Optus. I also could have got a White 16GB iPhone but I want the black iPhone. Anyway, The people at Optus World Penrith said the next shipment will come in about 2-3 weeks while someone from Allphones Liverpool said The next shipment will be some time next week.

Anyone know of times for the next iPhone Shipment, you may have been told by the stores you visited or any guesses?

Please write anything you know about the next shipment.

Thanks

Regards
iRuler

I would say the next shipment is just coming from an Australian warehouse where they are stocked, so it should be every couple of days.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine it would be any later than next week, although I got told by optus world down at knox (victoria) that it could possibly be up to 2 weeks, worst case scenario. I'm betting they will be in by wednesday next week

It really depends on a global stock count. If today they sell every handset in Australia and it's the same everywhere, I would think it could be months before everyone who wants one worldwide get's theirs. You can't make them fast enough when the stock runs out.

Apple would be months ahead on production, it's just the distribution.

Like I said, there is more than likely a warehouse full of them in Sydney or Melbourne which distributes through Australia.

I really doubt that all Australian stock was sent to shops yesterday for selling today. There will be warehouses somewhere with the rest of the Australian stock.

No way would the telcos have ordered such a pitiful number from Apple.

Guys, my gut feeling is that you are wrong. If there is a warehouse full of them- they would be in the shops plentifully.

on2DVD I will eat my words if it takes longer than 2 weeks.

Apple is a global business - they aren't dumb. Selling out isn't a surprise to them, it was well anticipated.

I think it is probably up to the Telcos to put in orders with Apple AU which are shipped form the global warehouse (wherever that is) to Apple Australia.
Now no company or individual likes ordering too many of anything and so the Telco's will only place orders that they know they can sell off in a short period of time.
So perhaps you are right, globally it might be OK, but locally it might be a case of bit by bit the Telcos will know how much demand they have to cater for.

Again, I think your being naive to think that any company involved didn't anticipate a large surge in iPhone sales.

So does anyone think that by the time the hype dies down, we will be able to walk into a carrier an relaxingly buy one?

Plenty at Apple Store Sydney, I reckon that is where all the stock is.
