Walked into Optus shop Raymond Terrace (NSW) yesterday to get a raincheck and was told you can have one now. We have just got a lot in this morning.

Signed up for the $59 plan and walked out with a 16Gb black iPhone.
Two hours later I was online. A very happy Chappeee

Wow...not losing hope for today,

but talking to 3 retailers just before, it tragically sounded like they all really did NOT know (even though 2 days ago sounded very sure) when the next batch of stock will come in.

Judging by the number of people that has gone 'WOOHOO' so far, I'd say today or tomorrow should come bearing fruit.

Geez, anybody else got any comforting news??

Just called Optusworld Richmond, she didn't tell me exactly where I was on the raincheck list but that I was 'not too far down' and that I might get it in a week to two weeks. Slightly more comforting than a month but still not great, since everyone else seems to be getting theres! I sort of wish I'd gone to a different Optus World, this one doesn't seem that up with the iPhone news if you know what I mean. No posters or advertisements or anything. And no one else on this forum seems to have mentioned the store once...

Strathfield Brisbane CBD, just told me our white 16gb is in, but my black one is not yet. Within a week they said. When I rang this morning to ask how far way they were they said within a week for both

Just spoke with Optus Watergardens and they confirmed they were getting a some phones 'very soon'. They just can't pinpoint when exactly.

On the likelyhood of getting them in this afternoon, 'probably not'.

Not going to stop me from calling again later this arvo though

Spoke to a very friendly Wesley.

Thanks heaps for this MacNut!
I rang them up and they had one black 16gig left. They where happy to sell it outright to me (no contract or prepaid sim) and hold it for me while I drove over to the store (30minutes away)!
When I got there they even took my current 3G Optus sim out of my old phone, put it in the iPhone and activated the phone for me. Absolutely awesome service!

I'm currently on Optus corporate rate of 12c / 30 seconds + $12/month for 200Meg of data, so buying the phone outright or getting a prepaid was the only option for me.

Regards,
Stephen
