I brought a iphone from USA to AUS and has a friend unlock it for me, it worked for a bit and t hen stopped working.. after looking on a few forums i decided to try to unlock it again myself.. and now my iphone has just gone blank and will not turn on or do ANYTHING. Have i ruined it???

You can only unlock an iPhone once. Do it again and you will stuff up your phone. Can iTunes detect it? If so, do a full factory restore. If not, your iPhone may never be able to be recovered.

Hi there,

I recently purchased a unlocked and jailbroken iPhone while I was in the U.S. I've tried finding threads but none seem to mention specifically the problem I'm having.

It's to do with the Apps store and seems locked to the U.S. Is there anyway to change this so it uses the Aus Apps store? I have read the threads about setting up a US Itunes account, but it seems that it's not that easy anymore. As they require you to put a payment method and also that that payment method be from a U.S source.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I unlock 2 different Iphones from the same computer? I did the first one with no problems but the second one will get stuck on the recovery mode screen for quickpwn22. Can someone help?

Hope someone can help me out here.

I have a locked Australian iphone. Upgraded and ran pwnage (latest) and installed yellowsn0w.

After all that, it looked unlock. Had network. worked fine. Calls and sms fine. Worked with the local network.

As soon as I downloaded something from cydia or connect the iphone to itunes (without synching yet) I lose the network. Only dots. doesn't say 'searching' or anything else. All other functions are fine.

Ran a complete reinstall of the iphone 2.2 + pwnage + yellowsn0w again. Worked fine. Same thing happened on downloading and connecting to itunes again.

Anyone facing the same problem? Any solutions? Seems a little unstable.

Am considering 'unlock the iphone' commercial software. Any opinions?

I bought a my 3GS from US and used purplera1n to unlock it. Now i'm running a big problem. What should i do???


Initially i followed all steps as descibed but it hangs at" loading Cydia". After which i re do all the steps again and it starts to hang at Geohot's pic and remain dead since. I treid to hard reset and reload again, same thing happen.. I'm still stuck at Geohot pic.


Itunes has been prompting me saying I'm in recovery mode, by clicking restore will it put me in a permanetn lock???

Please help......

Hopefully you will have already downloaded the stock standard Apple .ipsw. It might not matter if you have not, it seems you will have to restore and end up with a locked phone.

You should probably try for redsn0w instead of purplera1n. PR didnt work for me, either. It said it had installed Cydia but had not. Went thru the motions but no Cydia icon in the end. I then did a redsn0w jailbreak, installed the repository for ultrasn0w, switched off 3G and then, thru my wireless connection, got ultrasn0w installed and its all working fine now.

Ok so I'm an idiot and I need help! I jailbroke my Iphone and used the app 'categories' to put the other apps into folders. Since then I've had to restore my iPhone and now I can't get back any of the apps that were in the folders. And they were all the best free ones! If I try to sync them on iTunes it says they're on there but they're not. If I try to get them with the AppStore on my phone it says 'loading' and then doesn't go any further. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This works for Poof so I assume it will work for Categories - just flick the Parental Controls on and off a couple of times and they will appear again. I have no idea why this works, it just does.

Go to your home folder then: Library ---> iTunes ---> iPhone Software Updates

Do you use a PC or a Mac? Those instructions are for a Mac.

i bought an iphone in canada. was all sweet. got back here and it locked up. got it jailbroken and it was all good, but now its locked back up and it says i need its original network simcard in? confused.
just wondering if i take it to apple if they will hook me a new phone or will they laugh at me cos its canadian and then im stuck with a useless iphone?
please help me out with how i should go about this. thanks.

In conversation with a *genius* at the Doncaster Apple store the other day, he mentioned that they will not service ("wont touch" is actually what he said) an iPhone from another country (My previous phone was bought in Italy while my GF was on holidays).

And yes APP should work since it is attached to the device serial, so long as it is applied in the first 12 months.
