Question Problem connecting to iStat server

Hello

It seems as if I can not connect to my iStat server running on an Alu iMac. When I start the iPhone app, the server is present in the list via Bonjour. When I tap the line I can see the connection being made in the iStat Server window but I never get to the point where I can enter the passcode. It always says "Unable to connect, iStat was unable to connect to 'Ecto-1'." In the iStat server log there are multiple lines saying: Host connectetd, Host disconnected.

What am I doing wrong here? I have tried to open the correct port in my Airport Extreme even though it shouldn´t be neccesery when I am on the same network. I have also tried to change port and completely turn of the software firewall in OS X. I Am running OS X 10.5.6 and have an iPhone 3G whith OS 2.2.

Best regards!

Hi,
We believe it's an issue with the name of some iPhone's/iPod's. When iStat connects to the server it sends the device name but it seems there are issues with some characters in the names. You could probably temporarily fix it by renaming your iPhone/iPod using a name that just contains a-z and 0-9.
We will submit an update to apple in the next couple of days.

Thank you for the quick answer! That solved it! I makes sense now as the iStat server never seemed to be able to resolve the hostname sent by the iPhone.. my bad.. Thanks again!

Really cool app! Love it!

Yeah that fixed it for me as well, my iPhone's name contained some unicode characters. Removing them fixed the problem. Looking forward to the fix, but great app otherwise.

I can verify this issue and solution as well. After removing a trademark character (™) from the iPod name, I was able to connect and enter the passcode.

Can’t wait for the update. Cheers.

Great to hear the workaround has helped. Sorry about the bug... we'll get the fix out ASAP.
