MacBook Pro, which one?

Which MBP pro should I go for, a 2.2 with 128MB 8600m GT or the 2.33 Radeon X1600 256MB. Which would give the better graphics performance? Opinions appreciated.

Thanks
M

How about the new 15"2.4GHz with 256mb graphics.

256 is more than you will ever need in a lappy me thinks

If you can wait , wait till end of September , a new model is on its way

If you cant , get the cheapest one and upgrade to the new model during WWDC09

I'd go for the $2099 personally. X1600, 2.33GHz is too old to bother with at that price.

To answer your question, the 8600M with 128mb will beat the X1600

Its not about the amount of memory, its all about the chipset

There wouldnt be a huge deal in it though, neither are spectacular chipsets

Actually, the 8600M GT gives excellent performance, especially when it was put in the MBPs. Need to keep perspective. What I object to is the pathetic ripoff refresh that was given in February:P. Overpriced and underpowered by a big margin to competitors:P Should've gone minimum 2.6 with 3GB of RAM, and the higher end having 2.8 with 4GB.

I would go with the base model. 512MB graphic memory in the 8600M GT ain't much different from the 256MB model, due to the graphic card (it is bottlenecked).

I have the 2.5 and I've had plenty of video issues with it - I'm on to my second one and if it keeps up Imma gonna give Apple another call. It's more widespread than I first heard too... so I may suggest you look at the 2.4's instead or wait for a new revision, sometime in the probably not so distant future.
