So will there be a new MacBook Pro soon?

I'm keen as to purchase a macbook pro but I am waiting to see if something new comes out this year. The current model hasn't changed (externally) for ages so I am hoping something new is in the works.

Any ideas?

I'd say maybe in the next 6 months an update should arise.....

Six months I'm sincerely hoping the rumours of an August upgrade are accurate. I'm in the process of getting rid of my HP laptop so I can get myself a Macbook but I really don't want to be without for too long.

They update every 6 months on average, so yes, expect to see an update soon.

Eheheh... there are plenty of discussions on this topic, one is mine!
Have a look in the search!

I also hope to see something new coming up but I don't think it will be too soon. Why? Because it will take the focus away from the iPhone launch!

I don't really think Apple will shade the iPhone revolution with another major announcement too soon...

So, yeah... maybe in 3-6 months time... probably for January.

But I can be wrong, maybe could be before, in time for Xmas! :P

Yes an update yes... but the question was referring to a NEW MacBook Pro...

So I guess an update it will arrive for sure, not a case change though...

My new MacBook should arrive tomorrow - maybe Wednesday. So, yes, I expect an upgraded model to come out very soon!

Cheers,
Andrew

Just out of interest, if you know there's going to be an updated MB coming out very soon, why did you buy now for?

Because he needs the laptop now... not when the new model comes out.

Fair question!

I don't know that there will be a new model. I did research as best I could and determined that there wasn't going to be a new model. Just that I've ordered mine makes it stand to reason that a new model will come out!

Cheers,
Andrew

I have the same feeling, just picked up my first Apple today, MacBook Pro, would be really depressing if a refresh comes out too soon.....

Again I needed the laptop, could have waited until the end of August, hope I don't live to regret the timing of my decision, I know my credit card does at the moment

Salary sacrifice should ease the pain a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if those 'rumored' Chinese shell images become the new MacBook (not MBP). It would make sense if it had a black Apple logo on top like the iMacs.
