I'm sure we'll see an upgrade, whether it be a complete redesign or just an update, during spring this year.

Nooooooooooooooo I hope not... the Apple Logo with the light is one of the best things on the Macs!!!!!!!! And if you notice no iMac has the light behind the icon.
It is only a laptop thing.. and if they take it away then I'll buy a white macbook!

Check out the Buyers Guide at MacRumors as they're usually pretty accurate.

Mac Buyer's Guide

I'd expect an update around September or October, and probably just a hardware refresh. I'm guessing that the new design won't come out until next year.

Yep, I agree for the hardware update, not for the new case...

Any biddings?

Does anybody know where to find out information regarding Intel's roadmap for upcoming processors? That might clearly indicate when we'll see under the hood changes to the MacBook Pro.

It's hard ache to see new Windows-based laptops with the latest videocard offerings from nvidia while Apple expects $1900+ for (refurbished) 128mb 8600GT cards.

They updated the hardware last in the MacBooks and MacBook Pros February 26, 2008. I say we'll see an updated MacBook and MacBook Pro sometime between August and November.

I for one bought my Penryn MacBook Pro (with Multitouch) fully expecting new ones to come out a couple of months later. I don't want to be burned with the first of a new design, knowing how many problems they have.

So I Flexirented this on on a 24 month contract, and in about 18 months I'll move up to a mature product.

Thanks, macgrrl. I'm glad that someone else understands Murphy's ways - even if we don't understand Murphy himself!

Cheers,
Andrew

Doesn't this argument assume that you are the centre of the universe though?
