Wow that sounds exactly like my switch story! Still holding onto the trustworthy Leopard equipped PowerBook.
Mate whatever choice you make, just know that either one will be the best computer choice you'll ever make.

I've seen ppl talking/posting that there's gonna be updates to MBP in June. So should I wait till then to get the MB/MBP or should I get it now?

if you're going to carry the notebook around alot then go for the macbook. the 13" is alot more portable than the macbook pro. if it's a desktop replacement go for the macbook pro

I'm pretty sure that the MBP screen is also only 6 bits per pixel, and not 8.

If you're only going to use it for that, you may as well just go with the MacBook.
It's better value than ever (comparable to Lenovo at the moment)
You could buy a 20-inch screen with the $900 that you save.

I was looking at the refub...but is there a risk in getting it? I just don't trust getting a macbook that was faulty..coz maybe not all the problems have been fixed..?
Currently, even tho most have been saying to get the MBP, I'm leaning more towards getting the MB coz I just can't fork out and splurge on the extra $900. I'm gonna have another week of thinking and go into the store to look at it..

The refurbs are (or should be) 100% working, especially coming from Apple :-)
They even come with the 1 year warranty from Apple, so I'd defintely go with the refurb if you want to save some cash :-)
Either way, I love my MacBook so you should be happy with either choice.
Good luck!

I just purchased my MacBook a few weeks ago and went through the same process. I ended up buying a used 2.2GHz white MacBook with 8 months of warranty remaining. This saved me a whole lot of dough and the spare was used to buy AppleCare which is as far as I'm concerned, mandatory for any Mac notebook purchase.
What saved me even more money was that it came with mini DVI to VGA adapter, keyboard cover (which I don't use anyway), and 4GB of RAM.
So if you're on a tight budget, don't blow it all on an MBP, go for the highest MacBook you can afford with AppleCare Protection Plan.
