Do MacBook Pros come with the smaller power chargers now?
Hi,

I have a Rev A MacBook Pro, which has a huge power adapter.

I think Apple released smaller power chargers for the MacBook Pro (also works on MacBook) a while ago.

Just wondering if these were bundled in the box with current new MacBook Pros.

From the posts online, I suspect they do, but just wanted to be sure.

Yes they would be.

It's been out for a while now (those updated ones) -- about 8 months.

Yea the new ones all come with the smaller 65W charge brick. i have one of each for the moment and use the large one under my desk and the small one travels in my laptop bag. very convenient really.

Ahhhh that explains it. I heard about the MBP's having bigger power supplies, but when I got my MBP I could have sworn it was the same size as my old Macbook's supply. Looks like I wasn't imagining it.

I'd like to purchase the small lighter power adapter but couldn't find specifically at the apple online store - there is one that says it's for macbook (here) but does that suite the pro as well?

I have just bought a 15 inch MBP and it came with an 85W power brick, not 65W.

I'm not sure about any size comparisons, as this is the first Apple laptop that I've owned, but it's roughly 8 x 8 x 3 cm

they're two different ones. the macbook pro one is slightly bigger than the macbook one, also the macbook pro one is 85w vs ~60w.

Thanks guys, I was confused as I thought they decreased the wattage - so same wattage, just a smaller size!

Just make sure if you do have any 60W adapters around to NOT use them accidentally or you will nuke your battery.

Where the hell does this come from?

You can use any Apple adaptor with any Apple laptop as long as the plug fits without forcing.
The only trouble you may run into is that a lesser wattage adaptor (ie. MB one) won't be able to run the laptop and charge the battery at the same time on a laptop what requires a higher wattage (ie. MBP)
