Macbook/Macbook Pro vs Powerbook/iBook

Now some time's gone by and we've had a chance to get used to everything, do you like the names Macbook and Macbook Pro more than Powerbook and iBook?

Perhaps more than powerbook, but i was quite fond of the imac/ibook pairing.

Still not sure why the let iMac survive and not the iBook.

I think the idea was to get "Mac" into all the names. Despite this I think iBook & Powerbook were better names.

More POWER!!!

Was nice to tell all those pesky Wind0ze laptop users that I had a Powerbook.

Now I go, "I've got a Macbook", and people are like "You've got a what?" ><

I think that the original Apple portable names were better. I can see that Apple wanted to get "Mac" into the names of the whole product line, but surely "i" is just as significant for Apple now. I think that the new names are a bit contrived. Although not part of this topic I find Mac Pro the most contrived of all.

However, "i" is fairly ubiquitous in the tech industry. A lot of companies now roll "i" products. So I suppose "Mac" is more unique.

*lol* I was JUST thinking about this exact topic - beat me to it, Dana.

I didn't like that they got rid of "Powerbook"... But, that said, with the fullness of time... I guess it does work to better associate the machine with the brand it belongs to...

Have to agree now though, that the "i"Mac is standing out like a sore thumb...
