DVD Region codes
Hi Guys, need some info here. The DVD player in my old iBook no longer works because the region code has been changed more than 5 times. What can be done to get it to work again if anything?

Any ideas much appreciiated.

It should be locked on the last region it was set to, not inoperable. does it read a data DVD OK ?

Dude, I have been dealing with the same problem this week, except for my MBP - for which there is no known solution.

Luckily, your iBook should be able to be fixed - try this site and search for iBook and try resetting the firmware and see what happens.

Can't think of an answer right now.

Download Portable VLC Player or VLC Media Player - to just be able to play anything now and in the future.

VLC won't play out of region DVD's on your Macbook, the new machines and OS prevent it from working with out of region disks.

The good news is your old ibook with Jaguar installed should still happily play out of region disks with VLC.

Well, it does give a warning when you do it. Back in the day, using OS9 and OSX on the same machine was a fun workaround - other than that, I couldn't really say what one would have to do.
