Replace bottom case on PowerBook FW800

Hi Helpful People,

I tried searching here and on the net for information on how to replace the bottom case on my G4 1.25ghz FW800 15" Powerbook. All I can find is instructions on replacing the top case.

Anyone know of where I can find step by step instructions on this and how hard it is to do?

Thanks.

It's not hard to do, you just need to be patient and methodical.

Keeping track of the screws is a chore, as there's quite a variety of sizes. I tape them onto a sheet of paper, one sheet per 'layer' of the machine and write notes where necessary, which works for me.

The ifixit.com website is very helpful and their photos are excellent. They used to have downloadable PDF versions of the guides, with a screw guide at the back, but don't know if they still do that. Very handy if you find you've got any left over screws at the finish.

I already had a look at the ifixit site and I could only find a specific procedure for replacing the top case. I want to do the bottom case.

Thanks for your help.
